Bhag DK Bose
Many centuries ago…….
As I said, once upon a time, many years ago, there was a dacoit. Needless to say, he was very ferocious, ruthless and cruel. One day he felt overburdened by his own sins and atrocities. So he went to a holy man and asked for a way to find salvation and offer repentance. The holy man being very wise knew that normal forms of prayer or meditation will not work upon him. So he told him to say ‘mara-mara-mara’ continuously throughout day and night. Very soon the dacoit found the grace of Lord Rama and attained enlightenment.
Just yesterday……..
There was a producer who wanted to find a way to protest against the censor board playing the role of guardian angel and dictating what is suitable to watch and what’s not to those very audience whose TV’s at home were flooded with advertisements which will put even vatsayan to shame. At least when we buy a ticket for a movie, we can decide whether to take our kids along or not and whether to watch it with our parents or separately. But with a television set adorning our dining room/drawing room, there is no way to avoid these perfume/deo, shoes, phone, juice, etc…etc…. ads which will invariably come in the breaks of family programmes on a supposedly family oriented channel.
So, he made his playback singer sing and his actor lip-sync to ‘bhaag D K Bose- DK bose- DK Bose-DK’. The censor was clearly outwitted and we are amused, not because it is some sheela or munni crooning, but simply because some stupid rules are creatively and cleverly broken!!!!!
Moral of the story
Rules and restrictions should always be uniform, contemporary and rational, otherwise there will be some Raj Kapoor or amir Khan who will enjoy their last laugh at your expense.
